Deadlines, docket monitoring, and document review

Know the deadline. Keep your case moving.

Birdlaw computes deadlines for California’s four federal district courts from the rules, standing orders, and case orders that govern your Matter. It monitors supported federal dockets nationwide and emails filing alerts. Forward the court’s NEF so Birdlaw can capture the filing PDF. Keep your documents together for review, redaction, and production.

The Deadline Engine

A date you can explain.

Every computed date opens into its derivation: the triggering event, the governing rule or order, the source language, the counted interval, and any weekend or holiday adjustment. Birdlaw proposes the date. Counsel confirms it.

01

The triggering event

See the filing, hearing, service event, or court order that started the clock, linked back to the Matter record.

02

The governing authority

Review the Federal Rule, local rule, standing order, chambers practice, or case order Birdlaw applied to the event.

03

The source language

Open the cited language behind the date instead of relying on a label or an unexplained calendar entry.

04

The counted interval

See the unit, direction, start point, and counting method that turn the triggering event into the proposed date.

05

The calendar adjustment

Weekend, holiday, and service-method adjustments remain visible as steps in the derivation, not hidden inside the result.

06

Counsel confirms it

Birdlaw proposes the deadline with its derivation open for review. Counsel confirms every date. Birdlaw never confirms a deadline for counsel.
